Love

A curious thing, love is.
Platonic, romantic, steady, hearty, familial, love.
The way you can get lost in it, and allow it to move in a single direction for years on end.
A unique and delicate pattern, flow, that sometimes, and very suddenly, breaks down.
And then from the blissful feelings arise the deepest moments of despair, disconnect, questioning and guilt.
As we are told, communication is the key here. But what we're not really thinking of talking about, especially as they occur, are those patterns that arise naturally. It may feel like we have no control over them, or we simply accept despite them not always being healthy.
And so, as it happens in life, often enough I might add, the love breaks down.
And you lose a friend, a partner, a family member, along with a small little piece of yourself.
And it's sad. And kind of bewildering too.
But you do learn.
To be a better observer of your patterns. To take better care of yourself, with a more profound understanding of your needs. You become intimately aware of your thresholds.
Your limits.
And ultimately, this allows you to choose who and how to love, and maybe even do it a little bit better this time.
