Our Trip - Part I continued: Drinks on Parc Allée.

Over here in the sick house (yep, Mr. D succumbed as well), we are missing German everything.
German candy.
German croissants.
German coffee.
German trams.
German friends, obviously.

On our last night in Bremen, we had dinner with our hosts, and retreated back to their beautiful home on Parc Allée for drinks.

What I wouldn't do to be squished on that banquette all over again.

Our trip: Part I - a German wedding

We started out in Germany. It was cold, it was rainy, but we were there for one of my best friend's wedding. And we were there to party. And party, we did. Til the very last night, at 4:30 am (a mere 2 hours before our train to Berlin. Not pretty.)

What we love about German weddings:

the warm welcome

they go over three days

cake and coffee before dinner

champagne on tap

being treated like royalty for being out-of-town guests

reuniting with old friends,

and awesome new friends

a mid-lake ceremony

the wedding BBQ...

the beautiful tent

the drinks
the rock band (hello, Veit!)

{photo credit: Maxi}
prosecco and those hors d'oeuvres
the fresh air
crazy lights

{photo credit: Maxi}
the live opera singer
midnight fire show (scary but beautiful)
German speeches

and the most delicious white-chocolate icing wedding cake ever.

Next up: A night on Parc Allee, a Day in Berlin

And we're back!

[a glimpse of where we were..]

It was a really great trip.
Can't wait to tell you about it!

But before I do, I am off to scrub my house. Top to bottom.

My worst summer job ever

Of all the random jobs I've had, by far the worst was at the Montreal Jazz Festival as a Hagen-Daaz ice cream girl. I was 16. And man was that a painful job. Long hours, on my feet, no breaks. I remember having to pee for hours. And illegally consuming the 'unsellables'.
You?

heat wave

It's extremely hot in Montreal right now and all I want is to sit on a lawn chair and eat Popsicles all day. Preferably by a pool. But since this isn't very realistic, the frozen treats alone will have to do. Lately, I've been picking up these generic ones from the corner store:

But let's be honest here- they're just not quite doing it for me.

What I really want is to get creative and make my own, preferably in some nice-looking stainless steel molds such as these beauties:

And if you're thinking, 'hey, those look an awful lot like ...' - I am aware.

Or in a pinch, one of these will do:

In the meantime, I can be found loitering at the local A/C haven also known as the grocery store searching for other alternatives.

Summer wish list

I am looking to buy these, very soon, ideally right here in the Montreal if someone knows where they can be found? Sadly Canadian Tire does not have them.

The Scoop ball game. Played it all through elementary and middle school at recess, and it was very fun. Fast forward to today: ideally these would be in a bag packed for the park with fresh ciabatta, cheese, berries, booze, and a blanket. And some nice friends of course.

HEAT

It's been so hot here in Montreal you sweat from your elbows.
All I want to do is jump in a pool somewhere, anywhere!

Summer daze

It's been so hot and humid these past few days in Montreal that everything has slowed down a little, including my office ceiling fan.
Yesterday as I took a walk with the dog and the man, we got caught in a massive downpour. It felt so refreshing, we walked slowly alongside all the city dwellers scurrying for shelter.
Summer rain in summer heat = so good.
Wet dog = not so good.
